With a change in name from MHRD to the Ministry of Education, the government has adopted the new education policy in 2020. The new policy declared by the Ministry of education will restructure the school, colleges, and higher education. In higher education, it will increase the GER to 50% from the current 26% by 2035.

There will be no separation of subjects in the form of streams in the new education policy of 2020.
