HOW TO OVERCOME LAZINESS DURING JEE PREPARATION ?

Laziness is a habit rather than a mental health issue. It may reflect a lack of self-esteem, a lack of positive recognition by others, a lack of discipline stemming from low self-confidence, or a lack of interest in the activity or belief in its efficacy.

It is easy to get wrapped up in the daily grind and avoid the tasks that require students immediate attention. Are you also one of them who often feel lazy? Have you ever experienced laziness holding you back from accomplishing your goals? We would all be lying if we said we have never spent our day doing nothing. Sometimes, all students  enjoy the state of laziness and whiling away our time and wait until the last minute to study for a test or work on a project. It is to be noted that laziness is a real grade killer and students should learn to encounter the same.

Read further and find out ways to overcome laziness :

What you need is focused mind

It is easy to feel distracted or not feel motivated enough to do the task. Often when we have to start with something, we feel lazy. In order to overcome that feeling of laziness, it is important to focus your mind on the task. If you have a problem focusing or concentrating, you can practice meditation etc which will help your mind stay active and focused.

 Switch between tasks

Another way to combat laziness is by switching between the tasks. Let’s say, you start with Physics and practice a few numerical questions. However, after a point of time, you don’t feel like solving more questions. It might be due to boredom or perhaps you are unable to solve them correctly. In such a situation, it is easy to feel less motivated. As a result, laziness sinks in. To avoid that, switch Physics with Chemistry. Switching between subjects or tasks keeps the mind active and helps in better retention.

Take a power break

A nap or a coffee break can prove to be your power break whenever you feel lazy. Taking a small break not only rejuvenates you but also energizes your mind to study with stronger conviction. This will also relax you and keep stress at bay. A power break is one of the most effective ways to encounter laziness and improve concentration.

Remove all obstacles

In the techno-savvy world we live in, it is easy for a human mind to get distracted. With PSP games, smart phones and Netflix so handy, students attention tends to get diverted from his/her goal. As a result, studying takes a back seat as they feel lazy to learn in contrast to their active state while playing. It is thus advisable to switch off the phones, put all games to a corner and unplug unnecessary tech devices for a while.

Surround yourself with motivated people

It cannot be denied that when you spend time with people who are motivated and serious about their goals in life, you also tend to think like them. It influences you and your life and you are able to focus more. On the contrary, hanging out with lazy people changes your way of thinking and you adapt to their way of life, thereby turning into lethargic fellows.

6. Adopt engaging techniques

It is important to immerse yourself completely in the task to be able to accomplish it successfully. Engaging techniques such as visual learning, using mind maps, listening to recorded lectures or watching youtube videos on your lesson can work in your favor. All this not only keeps your mind engaged but also helps in improved learning and better retention.

Strictly follow a schedule

Stop feeling crippled because of the feeling of laziness. One of the effective ways to combat laziness is to make a schedule and adhere to it. This will not only help you strike a balance between leisure and work but will also accomplish tasks on time and keep procrastination at bay. This will considerably remove the feeling of laziness as you’ll know you have to meet your targets.

Shake it up

Exercise is a must for a healthy body and mind. Always, always, indulge in some exercise to keep off that feeling of laziness. Exercise pumps up your muscles and refreshes your mind, leaving it active for hours. An active mind absorbs better and retains the information for long. So shake it up a little and start working out.

STUDY TO GET MAXIMUM SCORE IN JEE SUBJECTS : BY AG SIR

How do I score above 90 marks in physics in Jee mains?

Physics is one of those subjects which is all about the concepts. Understanding the fundamentals and keeping your concepts clear is one of the most vital parts of solving questions in physics.

How should I prepare for JEE mains maths?

Mathematics is one of the most important subjects in clearing JEE Main. For certain individuals, Mathematics can be a subject they enjoy or a subject that they hate. Plus, having a good grip on this subject helps in physics and chemistry too.

When we compare the questions asked in JEE Main versus the questions asked in JEE advanced, we can see the questions asked in Jee Main is quite easy and maybe just a tad bit difficult than the CBSE papers. But even so, they’re challenging.

This is one of the subjects that requires speed and precision because more often than not, the paper is quite lengthy and most of the questions are based on high order thinking skills, so most of them will require you to use more than one concept in order to solve them.

Mathematics is a section that requires a lot of practice, not for a day but constantly and regularly in order to score well in your paper.

To give a brief overview of certain important topics in Mathematics:

Probability and Statistics– One of those topics which most students tend to leave but these are like one of the most scoring topics, it’s tough but with practice, you can score well.

Differential and Integral Calculus– the Most scoring subject of the paper, you have to remember a lot of formulas but once you have a good grip on that, solving questions isn’t that difficult.

Coordinate Geometry, Vector and 3D Geometry– Questions from this topic are generally straightforward so you can solve them easily by reading the questions properly.

Complex Numbers and Trigonometric Ratios and Algebra– Most of the students hate this part and aren’t very good at it. But in most papers have a good amount of questions from these topics.

The best way to prepare is to first start by completing your NCERT And any material you have from your you coaching institute. Plus ask your teachers which book would they recommend to you. After this you should head to previous year question papers or any question bank you can find, that has good questions. The main key is just constant efforts and practicing regularly.

How do I score around 80-90/120 in the JEE Main (chemistry)?

Chemistry is one of the most scoring subjects in the JEE MAIN paper. For most people score goes up because of this subject.

Scoring high in this subject (80 & above) isn’t a walk in the park, but when you’re putting in constant efforts for a long time, it’s not that difficult either.

There are 25 chapters (or topics) in the prescribed syllabus for chemistry JEE MAIN, combining 11th and 12th standard syllabus. And that is the reason why it’s difficult. The course is really vast and without constant and disciplined revision and practice, scoring well is just not possible.

The entire syllabus is divided into three parts

  • Inorganic chemistry
  • Organic chemistry
  • Physical chemistry

You just need to make sure your fundamentals are rock solid in almost all the topics and understanding and solving questions will be easy.

To give a brief overview of certain important topics in chemistry:

Chemical Bonding & the periodic table– To be honest these are the most important topics in Chemistry. Mastering Chemical Bonding and the properties of periodic table elements, then solving questions in a lot of topics will be a breeze.

General organic chemistry– Basic principles, hydrocarbons, carbonyl compounds being the most important.

Redox reactions, Mole Concept & the concept of equivalents – Again very basic and but really important.

Solid state, solutions & gases theory– Sometimes theoretical questions come from this part, solving these wouldn’t take any time if you’re clear with the concepts.

Thermochemistry & thermodynamics– Mostly numerical, but have a good weightage in the paper.

P, D & F block– Again, mostly theoretical questions from these chapters.

Having a good hold on these topics doesn’t guarantee you really good marks but these are one of the most important topics in the entire syllabus. Certainly, you need to study different topics too. Plus make a habit of making notes of anything you feel is important. Can be a formula, question, concept, anything.

AT LEAST 2,008 WOMEN SET TO JOIN IITs THIS YEAR AS GOVT HIKES RESERVATION TO 17% ( WOMEN EMPOWERMENT )

The women-only seats, or supernumerary seats, were introduced in 2018 in order to increase the number of girl students in IITs, which continues to be heavily skewed in favour of boys .

Mandatory 946 seats will be available exclusively for women who want to join IITs in the 2019 academic session as the government plans to increase the seats for women in the country’s top engineering institutions by bumping up the number of women-only seats by 167 seats — from 14 per cent (779) in 2018 to 17 per cent (946). Going by the recent trend, the number of women IITians can be speculated to be no less than 2,008.

The women-only seats, or supernumerary seats, were introduced in 2018 in order to increase the number of girl students in IITs, which continues to be heavily skewed in favour of boys.

In 2018, 1,062 girls made it to the IITs through the common merit list in the JEE (Advanced). But the government created 14 per cent, or 779 supernumerary seats, which took the number of girls in the IITs to 1,841, the highest so far. A total of 12,058 seats were on offer in the 23 IITs in 2018.

Sources in the Ministry of Human Resource Development said the success of supernumerary seats had prompted the government to increase it to 17 per cent in 2019.

The government is hoping that the creation of around 900 girl-only seats will bring a remarkable change in the gender disparity on IIT campuses.

“The plan was to take the total number of girls to 20 per cent in B Tech programmes in IITs by 2020-21 but we are targeting to achieve this in 2019 itself,” the official said.

A committee under IIT Mandi director Timothy A Gonsalves, which was formed to recommend ways to increase the enrollment of girls in undergraduate programmes at the premier technology institutes, had suggested creating supernumerary seats for women, which was accepted by the Centre .

In 2017, the girls’ admission percentage in B.Tech programmes was a mere 9.3 . But officials in the IITs said this year the presence of women was ensured in even those streams that were earlier shunned by them.

“While girl students often prefer computer, electric and electronic engineering to civil and mechanical, this year they were given more options,” a senior Joint Seat Allocation Authority said.

Dheeraj Sanghi, a senior professor at IIT Kanpur, said while creating women-only seat was “okay” to correct the gender imbalance at IITs, the authorities should also look at larger interventions such as ending gender biases at the examination level.

“What the government is telling girls is that while you cannot crack the entrance test, we will offer you seats through reservation. But why not end gender bias in the entrance test itself, making it easier for them to qualify?” he asked.

WAYS TO DEVELOP SELF-DISCIPLINE TO CONQUER JEE MAIN & ADVANCED 2019

A good number of students appear for Joint entrance exam in India every year. Surprisingly, the number of applicants is only increasing. Thus, making the competition even tougher and harder to crack. This makes it vital for JEE aspirants to devise a strategy that not only helps in completing the syllabus on time but also in scoring the desired score. Unfortunately, many students miss out on the most crucial part of the preparation – self-discipline.

“Once you have a commitment, you need discipline and hard work to get you there.”

Self-discipline when combined with sheer hard work and a robust preparation plan can do wonders. It is all about controlling your impulses and desires in an attempt to conquer one of the toughest examinations – JEE . So, if you are preparing for JEE  2019 and clueless about how to master self-discipline, we are here for you.

Here are few effective tips that will help you master self-discipline and conquer JEE :

Know and Accept Your Weaknesses

Every aspirant has weaknesses. Whether it is a numerical or periodic table, there are always certain weaknesses that lower the confidence of aspirants. The trick here is to acknowledge your shortcomings and work towards honing them. Own up to your shortcomings, practice hard and don’t put them aside until you conquer them. However, don’t be too hard on yourself as it may cause ill effects to both mental and physical health.

Have a Solid Execution Plan

If you hope to succeed in the Joint entrance exam (JEE), you must have a solid execution plan with a clear goal in mind. With an idea of what you want to achieve and accomplish, mastering self-discipline will become a cake walk. After all, if you do not have a clear goal in mind, it will be easier for you to get sidetracked and lose focus.

A solid execution plan will help you stay on track, stay focused and establish a clear finish line. This approach also helps in setting priorities and lets you stick to it.

Understand Your Priorities

When it comes to preparing for the JEE  in India, it is vital to understand your priorities in terms of the weight-age the subjects carry. With a better understanding of the priorities, you will be able to motivate yourself properly. For example, biology carries the maximum number of questions in JEE, so its preparation must be prioritized to score well.

Don’t Let Distractions Rule Your Mind

Distractions are your biggest enemy when preparing for the Joint entrance examination(JEE). To have a greater sense of control while studying, be sure of choosing a spot that is quiet and away from distractions. In addition, keep your mobile phone and other gadgets away to stay focused. Self-discipline involves self-help; thus, work towards balancing your studies while keeping distractions away.

Visualize Your Future

Another great way to develop self-discipline to conquer JEE is by visualizing your future. You must constantly focus on how you want your future to be like. Keep it distinct and clear in your mind to make it act as a driving force. This will eventually prove to be the greatest motivator and will certainly inculcate self-discipline in you gradually.

Always Have a Backup Plan

When preparing for JEE, it is imperative to have a backup plan for your preparation. There will be times when the previous strategy will not work, and you will require a new plan of action to complete the syllabus. For such instances, always have a backup plan. For this, you can seek help from fellow aspirants and the faculty of your coaching institute. A backup plan will never let you deviate from your path and keep up the discipline factor intact.

In a nutshell, self-discipline is not only about continually doing something; it is instead about methodically regulating, correcting, and adapting yourself to the altering conditions and situations of life. The above tips can be extremely effective and useful if properly executed, and you will eventually begin seeing changes that will imbibe self-discipline. COMMON MISTAKES TO AVOID WHILE PREPARING FOR JEE MAIN & ADVANCED 2019

While preparing for JEE Main and Advanced, you often tend to make some silly mistakes that could affect your scores and rank. Here are some common mistakes that students make, which can be avoided easily with some guidance and help.

1)  Not taking enough tests : If you spend all of your time just learning and solving exercises, it won’t give you enough practice. The trick to achieving excellent result is by taking regular practice tests and timing yourself. You will find some challenging practice test series for JEE here.

2) Ignoring class XI syllabus Class XI syllabus forms a foundation for what you learn in class XII. Therefore, equal amount of importance should be given to the syllabus of both the classes. A thorough revision of class XI concepts will be of great use for JEE preparation.

3)  Referring to several publications for preparing :  While preparing for JEE, students end up buying a lot of different books that they never use. You should  prepare majorly from your NCERT books. You can also have a study group among friends and share books and practice tests.

4) Avoiding difficult questions : Most of you skip the difficult questions you come across while solving  practice     tests and previous year’s question papers. Instead of skipping or avoiding these questions, you should take help from subject experts and practice these until you master them.

5) Staying up all night before the exam : The worst mistake that students make under pressure is that they stay up all night before the exam, revising! There is nothing extra that you can do in one night. Take this night to relax, eat well and sleep early so you wake up fresh. Staying up all night will only make you tired and sleepy while you’re taking the exam and you will lose concentration.

6) Having doubts about your preparation : At the last minute, there is no point in cribbing about what all you could have done. Be confident about whatever you have studied and about your preparation. Doubting yourself will only confuse you and will be discouraging which can ultimately hamper your concentration while taking the exam.

7) Skipping long questions : During the exam, students skip long questions and come back to these after completing the entire paper. You shouldn’t get scared of too many words in the questions which makes them look long. Such questions are usually easy. You just need to have patience, read them slowly and understand them.

8) Spending extra time on easy question : After preparing for JEE for months together, you have an idea of the subject and chapters you excel in. Students spend extra time on such questions instead of devoting the same time on the difficult questions. This mistake should definitely be ignored.

9) Marking on OMR Sheet in the last half an hour :Another silly mistake that students make in JEE is marking the answers on the OMR  sheet in the last half an hour. Answers should be marked side by side while attempting questions. Marking on OMR  sheet in the end increases the possibility of ticking the wrong answers.

10) Discussing questions in between papers : Discussing questions with peers in the gap between papers has proven to be a commonly made mistake. It either makes you over confident or completely shakes-up your confidence. Refrain from talking about the answers in the time gap. Instead, use that time to revise important parts of the syllabus of the upcoming exam with your friends.

Avoid these silly mistakes and you will surely excel in JEE. You definitely will achieve the best results if you put in great efforts. We wish you ALL THE BEST!
