Now first, your question is how to score above “xx” marks. To be honest, going with this approach to an exam is not going to help you. If you’ve decided that you need to score at least 100 marks when you are giving the exam, you start taking risks in order to complete that goal and in exams like jee, which has negative marks for wrong answers is just plain stupid.
Rather than that, you should have a goal of improving your precision and accuracy of solving your paper.
First of all, decide which books you want to study from. Consult your teacher or anyone who’s preparing for the exam or even you could decide for yourself.
Now physics has a vast syllabus, and if you try to focus just on important topics and skip other topics or not pay much attention to them. A lot of people follow this approach but you shouldn’t be doing this. You must study all the topics in the syllabus and lay more stress on the important topics.
But to give a brief overview of certain important topics in Physics:
Dimensional Analysis – This is a very easy chapter but knowing correct units and dimensions for physical quantities can easily help you to eliminate options in a lot of questions.
Current Electricity and Heat Transfer – Questions from these topics are relatively easy and with a good grasp on concepts can be done quickly.
Optics and Thermodynamics– Wave Optics and Ray Optics combined there are few questions that are asked. Thermodynamics is not that different from the chemistry syllabus, but few concepts are different.
Gravitation and Electrostatics and magnetism – These chapters are conceptually similar to each other and have a good weightage in the paper.
Kinetic Theory of Gases and Rotational Dynamics– One of the tough topics in the entire syllabus but giving attention to these is necessary.
Nuclear Physics and Modern Physics– Students tend to leave these topics or don’t pay enough attention to them but in my opinion, they are easy topics and should be studied at least once.
Waves and sound– It is a conceptually difficult topic and some students feel difficulty in understanding it but every year a few questions come from these.
In physics, practicing as many questions as possible help as the questions asked in the paper can have multiple concepts applied in just one problem. Try to solve previous year question papers, figure out what are your weak point and try to rectify them as much as possible.
How should I prepare for JEE mains maths?
Mathematics is one of the most important subjects in clearing JEE Main. For certain individuals, Mathematics can be a subject they enjoy or a subject that they hate. Plus, having a good grip on this subject helps in physics and chemistry too.
When we compare the questions asked in JEE Main versus the questions asked in JEE advanced, we can see the questions asked in Jee Main is quite easy and maybe just a tad bit difficult than the CBSE papers. But even so, they’re challenging.
This is one of the subjects that requires speed and precision because more often than not, the paper is quite lengthy and most of the questions are based on high order thinking skills, so most of them will require you to use more than one concept in order to solve them.
Mathematics is a section that requires a lot of practice, not for a day but constantly and regularly in order to score well in your paper.
To give a brief overview of certain important topics in Mathematics:
Probability and Statistics– One of those topics which most students tend to leave but these are like one of the most scoring topics, it’s tough but with practice, you can score well.
Differential and Integral Calculus– the Most scoring subject of the paper, you have to remember a lot of formulas but once you have a good grip on that, solving questions isn’t that difficult.
Coordinate Geometry, Vector and 3D Geometry– Questions from this topic are generally straightforward so you can solve them easily by reading the questions properly.
Complex Numbers and Trigonometric Ratios and Algebra– Most of the students hate this part and aren’t very good at it. But in most papers have a good amount of questions from these topics.
The best way to prepare is to first start by completing your NCERT And any material you have from your you coaching institute. Plus ask your teachers which book would they recommend to you. After this you should head to previous year question papers or any question bank you can find, that has good questions. The main key is just constant efforts and practicing regularly.
How do I score around 80-90/120 in the JEE Main (chemistry)?
Chemistry is one of the most scoring subjects in the JEE MAIN paper. For most people score goes up because of this subject.
Scoring high in this subject (80 & above) isn’t a walk in the park, but when you’re putting in constant efforts for a long time, it’s not that difficult either.
There are 25 chapters (or topics) in the prescribed syllabus for chemistry JEE MAIN, combining 11th and 12th standard syllabus. And that is the reason why it’s difficult. The course is really vast and without constant and disciplined revision and practice, scoring well is just not possible.
The entire syllabus is divided into three parts
- Inorganic chemistry
- Organic chemistry
- Physical chemistry
You just need to make sure your fundamentals are rock solid in almost all the topics and understanding and solving questions will be easy.
To give a brief overview of certain important topics in chemistry:
Chemical Bonding & the periodic table– To be honest these are the most important topics in Chemistry. Mastering Chemical Bonding and the properties of periodic table elements, then solving questions in a lot of topics will be a breeze.
General organic chemistry– Basic principles, hydrocarbons, carbonyl compounds being the most important.
Redox reactions, Mole Concept & the concept of equivalents – Again very basic and but really important.
Solid state, solutions & gases theory– Sometimes theoretical questions come from this part, solving these wouldn’t take any time if you’re clear with the concepts.
Thermochemistry & thermodynamics– Mostly numerical, but have a good weightage in the paper.
P, D & F block– Again, mostly theoretical questions from these chapters.
Having a good hold on these topics doesn’t guarantee you really good marks but these are one of the most important topics in the entire syllabus. Certainly, you need to study different topics too. Plus make a habit of making notes of anything you feel is important. Can be a formula, question, concept, anything.
