FAQ Updates: JEE Advanced 2020

NTA has declared the Tie-Breaking Rule and Eligibility of foreign students. Certificates used in the Application form must be updated one.

This Year, IIT Delhi will be going to conduct the JEE Advanced examination on 17 May 2020. This exam will lead to the admission of students in the 23 IITs across the country and the number of seats is 12463. There will be two sessions in the exam and their timing will be 9:00 am to 12:00 am and 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm respectively.

There are several frequently asked questions (FAQs) related JEE Advanced have been released. With the JEE Main result, approx. 245000 students are going to be selected as eligible candidates till 30 April for JEE Advanced Exam. Later, it was also mentioned in time-table that the expected date of JEE Advanced exam result is 8 June.

As per the reports, 174432 students have been applied for JEE Advanced exam last year and the students that have appeared in the exam are 161319. As per the FAQs generally asked by the students for the online Application form, the submission of respective documents for the students of OBC and EWS category is important after April 1 2020.

In case, if the certificate is not available till the last date of the application then the student can only apply as general category candidate. In addition to this, there is the advantage of an extra hour during JEE Advanced for the student who belongs to the disability category.

Criteria for Foreign Candidate Eligibility

At the time of registering of JEE Advanced, Foreign Candidates must:

  1. Not be citizens of India (by birth or any other reason)
  2. Have studied (or studying) abroad at 10+2 level or equivalent

There are supernumerary seats allotted to the candidates with a cap of 10% in every course during the admission.

As per the rules of category mandated by Govt. of India, Foreign Nationals are outside the scope of reservation of seats as like Gen-EWS, OBC-EWS, etc. These candidates are allowed to give directly JEE Advanced 2020 with proper eligibility without appearing for JEE Main 2020.

JEE’s Tie Breaking Rule

This rule is applied for case: If two students have equal aggregate marks in JEE Advanced 2020, the rule is applied to distinguish the rank:

Rule 1: Firstly the positive marks of the candidates will be considered and higher rank will be given to the candidate having higher positive marks. In case, if it fails then another rule be followed given in next para.

Rule 2: Higher rank will be given to candidate having better marks in major subject, i.e. mathematics. Even if, this rule is not able to break the tie, then their physics marks are considered. Whoever students have higher marks in physics will get a higher rank. Even if, the tie did not break then the candidates will get the same rank.

One more chance for students who withdrew seats in JoSAA 2019 Counselling

Many students who paid the acceptance fee during JoSAA Counselling last year and were unable to report at the allotted centre. These students have withdrawn their seats before the final round and now they are eligible for the JEE Advanced 2020. In addition to this, students who are in NIT can also eligible for the JEE Advanced 2020.

Benefit for Students Applying for Marks Improvement

If a candidate wants to improve its marks in any of the relevant subjects after passing his\her Class XII (or equivalent) in order to meet the criteria “aggregate marks of 75% in JEE (or 65% for SC, ST and PwD)”, then he/she can reappear in any number of subjects in which improvement is considered. In such a case, final marks will be considered for the marks obtained in either of the two attempts of 2019 or 2020.

JEE MAIN 2020 Result: Matrix’s Students Outshines With Record Result

NTA released JEE Main 2020- January Session (B.E./ B.Tech.) result on 18 January 2020. Students can check their result on the official website with the help of login credentials. To check the JEE 2020 result, the credentials are Application number and Password/Date of Birth.

JEE Main Examination is the most important exam for the students who want to continue their career in B.E. / B.Tech. from India’s top colleges. This exam had two shifts per day and was conducted in 233 cities across the country and outside country from 7th January to 9th January 2020. From the report, it was found that around 9,21,261 candidates  were registered in JEE for B.E. / B.Tech. The total number of centre was 570 and other number includes 19 Regional Coordinators, 213 City Coordinators and 536 Observers. NTA conducted this exam smoothly and properly managed the centre inside and outside the country.

Important points about the JEE Main 2020 Result

  1. NTA Scores are normalized scores across multi session papers and are based on the relative performance of all those who appeared for the examination in one session. The marks obtained are converted into a scale ranging from 100 to 0 for each session of examinees.
  2. The NTA Score indicates the percentage of candidates that have scored EQUAL TO OR BELOW (same or lower raw scores) a particular candidate in that session.
  3. The NTA Score of a Candidate have been calculated as follows:

          [(100 X Number of candidates appeared in the ‘Session’ with raw score EQUAL TO OR LESS than the               candidate) /Total number of the candidates appeared in the ’Session’]

  1. The NTA Score of the Total is NOT an aggregate or average of the NTA Score of individual
  2. NTA score is not the same as percentage of marks obtained.
  3. Candidate’s particulars including Category and Person with Disability (PwD) have been indicated as mentioned by the candidate in the online application

  1. A student becomes blank when he\she see the paper and unable to trace the answers from mind
  2. Many students lack time management and thereby they spend their time solving tough questions. Thereafter, they get a short duration for solving the remaining questions and lacks in getting good marks.
  3. Hesitation and poor confidence also leads to failure in the attempt

But here we are to help you with some of the tips that will help you in overcoming the above problems.

You must follow these steps for at least 21 days and you will get the results surely.

  • Study plan: Make a study plan and sticks to it. A study plan must include properly scheduled subjects. Make sure this plan will cover all the subjects in a correct manner, you can take help with your mentor in this. It is also important that you should include the duration for practicing questions for every concept. Create the plan for the morning, afternoon and evening; don’t create a plan for the night schedule. In the night, have a proper sleep for a refreshing upcoming day.

  • Practice with time limits: When you prepare a study plan for practicing question paper, you must set a timeline for a paper and within that timeline, you should complete it. This will improve your efficiency both in solving a high number of questions plus time per question rate. You can also set the timing for solving a single question and which will improve your problem-solving rate.

  • Have a diet plan: During the study, it is important to control your diet because poor control on diet causes tiredness on the whole day and you feel sleepy all the time. Diet must be light which should not include junk food and relevant food items. For students, the diet includes majorly the vegetables and fruits so those students feel active throughout the day.

  • Body posture: Body posture also contributes higher in concentration when you study something. The best posture required to study is sitting straight on a table chair combination. This position keeps the mind and body active and you will learn faster than any other posture you use to study. Don’t ever you try to use the lying position to study; it will only feel you sleepy.

  • Avoid using cell phones: Cell phones are one of the factors which distract students from their disciplined schedule. Instead of this, cell phone also emits harmful radiations which are dangerous for the mind and eyes.

JEE Main 2020 Official Notice: NTA releases Mains Sample Paper (Numerical Value Type)

NTA or National Testing Agency releases Mains Sample Paper for Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics. These sample papers are numerical value type questions. Students can practice and can understand the theme and level of the questions that are going to appear in JEE MAIN 2020.

JEE Main 2020 Admit card is released and is officially announced by the National Testing Agency. This admit card of JEE or Joint Entrance Examination is for January Attempt and will be conducted on January 6 to 11 2020. The exam mode will be computer based test and will help students to get admission in NITs, IIITs and CFTIs across the country. Admit card is released on December 6, 2019.

Applicants can easily download their admit card from the JEE MAIN’s official website.

To download admit card, candidates are required to have following credentials:

These also include the case where disability is in upper limbs or have lost fingers/hands and this prevents the disable students to work properly on CBT platform. Disable students must avail the services of a scribe during the online registration of JEE (Advanced)-2020. This will let the students get an complementary time for one hour.

QUESTION 15: I belong to a PwD candidate having benchmark disability and valid disability certificate. Do I pass the eligibility criteria to avail additional one-hour compensatory time for JEE 2020 exam?

QUESTION 32: My father is in defense service personnel, am I eligible for JEE advanced under DS category?

Answer: No, not all DS services candidates are eligible. Some children who have their parents as defense/ paramilitary personnel killed or have disability during war operations. In addition to this, student must also provide relevant certificates shown under Annexure II and it must be issued by the Directorate of Resettlement and Rehabilitation, New Delhi under the Ministry of Defense or the Ministry of Home Affairs.

QUESTION 33: Is it important to write both the paper of the JEE advanced 2020?

Answer: Yes, the student must appear in both paper 1 and 2. In case, the student doesn’t appear in one of the paper then student will be declared as absent in exam.

QUESTION 34: Will NTA declare my result if I don’t appear in one of the papers of JEE Advanced?

QUESTION 41: In case, if two students get the same marks, how they will be getting their rank?

Answer: There is a tie-break policy for such a case. Step 1: Students having higher positive marks will get a higher rank than others. If the students both have same positive marks then step 2 will be followed. Step 2: Students having higher marks in mathematics will be awarded as high rank, even if there is tie, higher rank will be given to students having higher marks in physics. Still, if there is tie, then both the students will be on same rank.

QUESTION 42: As per some newspaper reports of the academic year 2020-20, there will be supernumerary seats for the females in the IITs. Is that mean, there will be reduction for the non-female candidates in IITs from 2020?  

Answer: This decision has been made on the level of IITs. This is done in order to improve the gender ratio in undergraduate programs. Thereby supernumerary seats are created and this will not affect the seats available for the non-female candidates.

QUESTION 43: Is it important to register at JoSSA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) 2020 and filling course choices after qualifying in JEE Advanced 2020?

Answer: Yes, It is important to register at JoSSA in order to become eligible for the admission in the IITs and course filling option is also important.

There are various talent search examinations for the students, NTSE is one of them and is the most prestigious. It is a National Level Examination and thereby termed as National Talent Search Examination.

This exam is conducted by the NCERT or National Council of Education Research and Training to find talented and deserving students for scholarship support.

Every year NTSE is conducted in searching for such students and is conducted every year in two stages: Stage 1 and stage 2. Here stage 1 is for state level and stage 2 is for National Level. The expected date for the form for the first stage NTSE is September.

The exam is conducted in the month of November whereas the second stage NTSE is conducted in May month of consecutive year. NTSE exam is conducted through both online and offline mode and the pattern is objective type of questions.

Around 1,200,000 to 1,400,000 students participate in the examination, but only 5000 students are able to crack the exam for stage 2. Thereafter, only 1000 candidates are selected for the scholarship.

Exam Pattern

Exam will be conducted via two stages in which the first exam is conducted for state and union territory level. Whereas the Second exam is conducted on the national level and is conducted by the NCERT. However Indian nationals studying abroad are exempted. This paper is conducted in two parts: MAT and SAT. MAT is termed as General Mental Ability Test and SAT is termed as Scholastic Aptitude Test. The SAT exam is further divided into two sections language comprehensive and aptitude test.

Both the exams are conducted for 120 minutes and have 100 marks each. There is no negative marking applicable in NTSE 2020. The exam is offered in different languages such as Asamiya, Bangla, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu language.

Eligibility Criteria for NTSE exam

  • Applicant should be Indian national.
  • The applicant should be in class 10 and from a private or government school in India.
  • Age of the applicant must be below 18
  • Applicant studying in class 10 from open or distance learning is also applicable.
  • There is more condition for States or UTs that may be related to minimum qualifying marks in the previous class, age limit, etc.

Information related to State Quotas

There is a fixed quota allotted to each state/union territory which is recommended for the specific number of students for next stage. However there is no further level quota at next stage NTSE exam and final scholarship will be given on the basis of the results. This quota is revised every year under the authority. For the duration of 2018-2020, the quota decided for each stage is given below:

CBSE Released Sample Question Papers for Class X and XII

The Central Board of Secondary Education or CBSE has released sample question papers for Class 10th. Same is also released for Class 12th students for the 2019-20. The CBSE sample question papers for Class 10 and 12 along with marking scheme were released by the Central Board of Secondary Education.

Students who are preparing for their board examinations are advised to download CBSE sample question papers. For CBSE 2020 Board Examinations, students can go directly download them from its official website at cbseacademic.nic.in. The CBSE has released subject-wise sample question papers for both class 10 and class 12.

The CBSE conducts the Class 10 and 12 Examination every year. The Central Board of Secondary Education Class 10 Examination 2020, CBSE Class 12 Examination 2020 will be held in February-march.

Students can download the sample papers from the official website and start practicing for better results. Further, the Board has also published the marking scheme for each subject.

About NMTC

NMTC (National Mathematics Talent Contests) is led by AMT (The Association of Mathematics Teachers of India).

Objective of examination: It is to search and support young and talented student who has ability to think something different and innovative for a better future. They are so different that they can solve critical problems showing a general numerical capacity properly to their level.

List of awards under NMTC

  1. Rank 1 Award: Rs. 5000 as cash + Merit certificate
  2. Rank 2 Award: Rs. 2500 as cash + Merit certificate
  3. Rank 2 Award: Rs. 1250 as cash + Merit certificate

Stages of NMTC

Examination is conducted in 2 stages:

  • Preliminary Test

Under this phase of the test, the objective type of questions having multiple choices will be there for the students. It will also consist of fill in the blanks type of questions. Students will write the answer in the response sheet and then AMTI will provide the result. Only 10% of the students will be eligible for the final test.

  • Final Test

This test is for the 10% of students who have cleared preliminary test. The questions will be of essay type and this exam will be conducted at the specific centres of states decided by the AMTI.

Note: Senior Level understudies (advanced education level) will take just the last test.

 

Eligibility                                                                                                                                                                                       

Students must belong to the school or junior colleges of different board, technology Institutions, and graduation colleges. This must also include the schools affiliated from CBSE board.

  1. Primary section named as Gauss Contest. It is for students of V and VI class
  2. Sub-junior section named as Kaprekar Contest. It is for students of VII and VIII class.
  3. Junior section named as Bhaskara Contest. It is for students of IX and X Class.
  4. Senior Section named as Aryabhata Contest. It is for students of Degree Classes in Arts, Science & Technical Colleges

Note*: The test will be conducted in a different medium and they are English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu, Marathi or Tamil. This medium of exam is valid till present. In case of new update, it will be disclosed on the official website. For the senior level of exam, the medium of exam will be English only.

 

Exam Details

  • Preliminary Exam will be going to be help at their particular school or centre students have filled for.
  • Students apply individually at the official website of the AMTI and there will be the proper intimation of the exam to the students
  • For the Final exam, AMTI will be responsible for the allotment of the centres
  • Students belonging to the senior section can attempt an exam in English medium only. While other section students have large number of option for the language selection.

 

Syllabus

The detailed syllabus for the NMTC is:

  • Algebra: Polynomials, Solving equations, inequalities and complex numbers
  • Geometry: Geometry of triangles and circles. (Trigonometric methods, vector methods, complex number methods, transformation geometry methods)
  • Number Theory: Divisibility, Diophantine equations, congruence relations, prime numbers and elementary results on prime numbers.
  • Graph theory and combinatory: Counting techniques, pigeon hole principle, the principle of inclusion and exclusion, basic graph theory

Registration

  • For registration, students have to visit the nearest school or centre of NMTC
  • If any student apply for the exam by itself, he/she will be eligible when they will send an acceptance letter from a teacher / Principal / Professor – serving or retired to hold the exam

Important Dates

Important events and tentative schedule:

  • Stage-1 Examination: In the month of August/September
  • Stage-2 Result: After one week of examination
  • Stage-3 Examination: In the month of November
  • Stage-4 Result Declaration: In the month of December
