NTSE: All about Application Form, Exam Date, Eligibility, Pattern and Syllabus

There are various talent search examinations for the students, NTSE is one of them and is the most prestigious. It is a National Level Examination and thereby termed as National Talent Search Examination.

This exam is conducted by the NCERT or National Council of Education Research and Training to find talented and deserving students for scholarship support.

Every year NTSE is conducted in searching for such students and is conducted every year in two stages: Stage 1 and stage 2. Here stage 1 is for state level and stage 2 is for National Level. The expected date for the form for the first stage NTSE is September.

The exam is conducted in the month of November whereas the second stage NTSE is conducted in May month of consecutive year. NTSE exam is conducted through both online and offline mode and the pattern is objective type of questions.

Around 1,200,000 to 1,400,000 students participate in the examination, but only 5000 students are able to crack the exam for stage 2. Thereafter, only 1000 candidates are selected for the scholarship.

Exam Pattern

Exam will be conducted via two stages in which the first exam is conducted for state and union territory level. Whereas the Second exam is conducted on the national level and is conducted by the NCERT. However Indian nationals studying abroad are exempted. This paper is conducted in two parts: MAT and SAT. MAT is termed as General Mental Ability Test and SAT is termed as Scholastic Aptitude Test. The SAT exam is further divided into two sections language comprehensive and aptitude test.

Both the exams are conducted for 120 minutes and have 100 marks each. There is no negative marking applicable in NTSE 2020. The exam is offered in different languages such as Asamiya, Bangla, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu language.

Eligibility Criteria for NTSE exam

  • Applicant should be Indian national.
  • The applicant should be in class 10 and from a private or government school in India.
  • Age of the applicant must be below 18
  • Applicant studying in class 10 from open or distance learning is also applicable.
  • There is more condition for States or UTs that may be related to minimum qualifying marks in the previous class, age limit, etc.

Information related to State Quotas

There is a fixed quota allotted to each state/union territory which is recommended for the specific number of students for next stage. However there is no further level quota at next stage NTSE exam and final scholarship will be given on the basis of the results. This quota is revised every year under the authority. For the duration of 2018-2020, the quota decided for each stage is given below:

CBSE Released Sample Question Papers for Class X and XII

The Central Board of Secondary Education or CBSE has released sample question papers for Class 10th. Same is also released for Class 12th students for the 2019-20. The CBSE sample question papers for Class 10 and 12 along with marking scheme were released by the Central Board of Secondary Education.

Students who are preparing for their board examinations are advised to download CBSE sample question papers. For CBSE 2020 Board Examinations, students can go directly download them from its official website at cbseacademic.nic.in. The CBSE has released subject-wise sample question papers for both class 10 and class 12.

The CBSE conducts the Class 10 and 12 Examination every year. The Central Board of Secondary Education Class 10 Examination 2020, CBSE Class 12 Examination 2020 will be held in February-march.

Students can download the sample papers from the official website and start practicing for better results. Further, the Board has also published the marking scheme for each subject.

About NMTC

NMTC (National Mathematics Talent Contests) is led by AMT (The Association of Mathematics Teachers of India).

Objective of examination: It is to search and support young and talented student who has ability to think something different and innovative for a better future. They are so different that they can solve critical problems showing a general numerical capacity properly to their level.

List of awards under NMTC

  1. Rank 1 Award: Rs. 5000 as cash + Merit certificate
  2. Rank 2 Award: Rs. 2500 as cash + Merit certificate
  3. Rank 2 Award: Rs. 1250 as cash + Merit certificate
  4. Another finalised students: Some cash + Merit certificate

Stages of NMTC

Examination is conducted in 2 stages:

  • Preliminary Test

Under this phase of the test, the objective type of questions having multiple choices will be there for the students. It will also consist of fill in the blanks type of questions. Students will write the answer in the response sheet and then AMTI will provide the result. Only 10% of the students will be eligible for the final test.

  • Final Test

This test is for the 10% of students who have cleared preliminary test. The questions will be of essay type and this exam will be conducted at the specific centres of states decided by the AMTI.

Note: Senior Level understudies (advanced education level) will take just the last test.

 

Eligibility                                                                                                                                                                                       

Students must belong to the school or junior colleges of different board, technology Institutions, and graduation colleges. This must also include the schools affiliated from CBSE board.

  1. Primary section named as Gauss Contest. It is for students of V and VI class
  2. Sub-junior section named as Kaprekar Contest. It is for students of VII and VIII class.
  3. Junior section named as Bhaskara Contest. It is for students of IX and X Class.
  4. Senior Section named as Aryabhata Contest. It is for students of Degree Classes in Arts, Science & Technical Colleges

Note*: The test will be conducted in a different medium and they are English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu, Marathi or Tamil. This medium of exam is valid till present. In case of new update, it will be disclosed on the official website. For the senior level of exam, the medium of exam will be English only.

 

Exam Details

  • Preliminary Exam will be going to be help at their particular school or centre students have filled for.
  • Students apply individually at the official website of the AMTI and there will be the proper intimation of the exam to the students
  • For the Final exam, AMTI will be responsible for the allotment of the centres
  • Students belonging to the senior section can attempt an exam in English medium only. While other section students have large number of option for the language selection.

 

Syllabus

The detailed syllabus for the NMTC is:

  • Algebra: Polynomials, Solving equations, inequalities and complex numbers
  • Geometry: Geometry of triangles and circles. (Trigonometric methods, vector methods, complex number methods, transformation geometry methods)
  • Number Theory: Divisibility, Diophantine equations, congruence relations, prime numbers and elementary results on prime numbers.
  • Graph theory and combinatory: Counting techniques, pigeon hole principle, the principle of inclusion and exclusion, basic graph theory

Registration

  • For registration, students have to visit the nearest school or centre of NMTC
  • If any student apply for the exam by itself, he/she will be eligible when they will send an acceptance letter from a teacher / Principal / Professor – serving or retired to hold the exam

International Junior Science Olympiad: All about IJSO you need to know!

Overview of IJSO

The program is to expand the interest of mathematics and science in the student through free and imaginative creativity by solving problems in mathematics and science. It likewise expects to advance international contacts in mathematics and science. Friendship is a major goal between these young minds of different nationalities, collaboration among understudies, and trade of academic and logical involvement in mathematics and science. The Mathematics and science Olympiad includes the stages-

Stage I: National Standard Examination in Junior Science (NSEJS)

Stage II:  Indian National Junior Science Olympiad (INJSO)

Stage III: Orientation cum Selection Camp (OCSC) in Junior Science

Stage IV: Pre-departure Training Camp (PDT) for IJSO

Stage V:  Participation in International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO)

 

Stage I: NSEJS

Overview of NSEJS

NSEJS is conducted by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) and is the main phase of the selection of students in the Junior Science Olympiad Program. Each student trying to experience progressive phases of the program must enlist for NSEJS. This exam is held at different centers in the nation.

 

Eligibility Criteria for NSEJS

A student must get a score equivalent to or higher than a Minimum Admissible Score (MAS). He/she has to be qualified for the Stage II INO test prompting the International Olympiad. A given subject has particular marks and 40% of those marks will be MAS.

 

Syllabus for NSEJS

The syllabus for NSEJS is broadly equivalent to the senior secondary level (Class XI and Class XII) of CBSE Junior Science. However, there is no detailed syllabus for the NSEJS.

Qualifying for IJSO

The objective of the primary stage exam is to have a wide reach and which must be progressively achieved across the country. This is actually a representation of stage II without excessive merit compromise. Henceforth the choice to stage II of Indian National Olympiad Examinations (INOs) depends on the accompanying plan.

  • Major Eligibility Key Points

There is minimum eligibility required of having a score equal to or more than MAS or Minimum Admissible Score. This is required to get entry into the next phase of the International Olympiad. MAS is equivalent to 40% of the maximum score of each subject.

  • Proportion Representation Clause of qualified students:

Around 300 students will be qualified for stage II INO. The selection proportion will be in such that students will be selected in each State or UT based on the number of students appeared in the NSE 2011-12 respectively in each State or Union Territory. Assume this number in 2011-12 in a given State in a given subject is S, and the total number that showed up in 2011-12 in that subject for the nation is T, at that point the number chose to Stage II in that subject from that State would be S/T times 300, adjusted off to the closest higher whole number.

  • Minimum Representation Clause (MPC)

  • Merit Clause

After going through the eligibility clause, it is possible that 300 students may not meet all requirements for Stage II in a subject. Some students will be selected from 300 based on merit. In this selection, proportional representation and minimum representation clauses will not be considered. If students at the last position get tie in their result, students having the same marks can appear in the stage II examination.

There will be no other basis for the determination of the Indian National Olympiad Examinations (INOs). All students who qualify for INJSO get an endorsement in the form of certificate from IAPT.

Stage 2: INJSO

Overview of INJSO

HBCSE (Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education) conducts Indian National Science Olympiad (INJSO) in almost 15 centers in the nation.

 

Eligibility Criteria

Students chosen from Stage I assessment (NSEJS) are qualified to show up for INJSO. Furthermore, those students, who have been absolved from NSEJS as listed in the Enrollment page, are likewise qualified to appear for INJSO. Other than these two, there is no other path by which a student gets qualified to show up for INJSO.

 

Syllabus

It is similar to the syllabus for NSEJS. After the exam and as per the performance, a total of around top 35 students in the merit list for Stage III: Orientation Cum Selection Camp (OCSC) in Junior Science. For the determination of the case when there is a tie between some students having same marks, they are eligible for the next stage. Further to it, there is no criterion or rules related to the selection of OCSC.

 

Stage 3: OCSC

Overview of OCSC

OCSC in Junior Science will be conducted by HBCSE for 2-3 weeks. The exact dates will be declared preceding or alongside the declaration of the merit list for the OCSC.

 

Eligibility Criteria for OCSC

Students are selected from the merit list of Stage II (INJSO) are qualified. There will be no other criteria for selection.

There will be camps after selection where theoretical and experimental tests are conducted. Student’s orientation will be there especially based on the experiments. There will be function for students where great scientists and researchers are welcomed to address them.

After the test, the merit list will be provided on the basis of the test conducted in the camp which is 60% from theoretical test and 40% from experiment test. This list will be produced as result of OCSC. Performance in the last stages (NSEJS and INJSO) is not considered here for the answer.

Thereafter, from the list, the top 6 will be selected as awardees for the merit list of the OCSC Junior Science. All the selected students will be given a prize of Rs. 5000 in form of books and cash. There will be also distinct prizes for the meritorious performance for their recognition as best performers in theory and experiment.

Lastly, special merit students are selected 12 in number in junior science at the end of OCSC and this will constitute a 6 member team for the next stage International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO). In addition to it, other requirements must be satisfied such as age limit, holding valid Indian Passport, health certificate, consent of the parent, etc.

 

Stage 4: PDT Camp for IJSO

Overview of PDT

The major 6 students selected for the team will be trained under a team of experts and the specified program. This program is organized under HBCSE and the aim is experimental training. Stage 5: IJSO

Overview of IJSO

In this stage, the final competition gets conducted and the time and place will be specified after the training. Students will be informed and they will proceed for final competition with their mentors.

JEE Main 2020: NTA Announces Official Notice on Application Form Correction

National Testing Agency has declared an official notification for the correction in the JEE Main 2020 application form which has been started from October 14, 2019. Enrolled candidates can now login to official website of NTA for January JEE 2020 (January Mains) Application form correction of error occurred.

National Testing Agency (NTA) is responsible for conducting national level examination i.e. JEE. This exam is responsible for allowing students to do undergraduate engineering courses in IITs, NITs, and IIITs. This time exam will be conducted on dates of 6th to 11th Jan 2020.

Correction of JEE Main Application Form

For JEE Main 2020, the correction of mistakes in application form should be done in order to get qualified as eligible candidate. Students can correct the details till October 20, 2019. Successfully Conduction of Matrix Talent Support Exam (MTSE) With Great High Enthusiasm

Matrix Talent Support Exam (MTSE) had been done successfully in the districts of Haryana and Rajasthan. Students have shown great enthusiasm for the participation in the exam and attempted exam at different centres at Sirsa, Fatehabad, Banswara, Bhilwara, Pratapgarh, and Chittorgarh. KYPY or Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana is one of the prestigious initiatives for providing scholarships on national level. It is organized by the Indian Institute of Science. This initiative of scholarship helps students in getting monthly scholarships up to pre Ph. D. Level. As the registrations for the KVPY exam were in between 8th July to fourth week of August, the exam is expected to be in November 2019.

The major advantage of this exam is that students become eligible for direct admission in India’s top institutes such as IISc and various other IISERs. Here is some general information about the KVPY exam.

KVPY 2019 General Information:

KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) is conducted for the streams SA, SB, and SX. There are almost 54 centers in India. Students who can apply for the exam must have Indian nationality. For regular updates for exam, students must visit the official website regularly.

Schedule of KVPY exam

  • Start of online application: 8th July 2019
  • Closing of online application: 31th August 2019
  • Admit Card Release: 3rd November 2019
  • Answer key release: End of November 2019
  • KVPY Result Declaration: December 2019
  • Interview Phase: January 2020
  • Final Result Declaration: April 2020

Eligibility criteria (Stream Wise)

  1. Stream SA: Students must complete their secondary standard or 10th class which must include science and mathematics. They must secure at least 75% (for SC/PWD/ST – 65%) or more in the same. For this scholarship, students must have to join undergraduate courses having specialization in basic science. This includes (B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S.) after class XIIth.
  2. Stream SX: Students must complete their secondary standard or 10th class with at least 75% (for SC/PWD/ST – 65%) or more. In addition to it, students must also pass 10+2 examination with the subject science and also have marks at-least 60% marks and for SC/PWD/ST 50%.
  3. Stream SB: This stream includes the category for students who have enrolled for the 1st year (undergraduate program) having specialization in basic science (Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics & Biology leading to B.Sc./ B.S./B.Stat./ B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S).

 

Steps of registration for KVPY:

Students can apply for KVPY from the official website. The first student has to click on the application link from the website and follow the following steps for the registration.

  • Go to the official website and click on Apply for KVPY
  • Now fill the personal details which include name, number, email id, date of birth and then finally fill the Captcha and hit submit button
  • Now the student has to login with the details received in email id or your personal number includes user id and password.
  • Now it is time to enter remaining personal details which includes residential and educational details.
  • In the next step, student have to upload the scanned photograph and signature
  • Next stage is to proceed for payment of the exam fees
  • Now click the submit button and download/print for need in the exam

KVPY Exam pattern

The pattern consists of two-phase of exam. Both the exam section includes four sections: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. The marking scheme of the exam is such that each correct answer award 1 mark and each wrong answer deduct 0.25 marks. Then next phase of exam has 2 marks for each correct answer and 0.5 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

Mathematical Olympiad Programme

Olympiads are the types of movement which aim to find talented students from secondary and high secondary students through a medium of competition. This competition leads to an environment of friendliness among students; however, it is not a direct benefit to career. It helps students undertake the real challenges in the mathematics and science field so that it helps for a better career.

Aim of Olympiad

Olympiads helps different young minds to meet at a single place and it helps in the connectivity of collaboration of those minds. Olympiads are like celebrations in many schools as the winning students helpful in recognition of their school at a bigger platform.

Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education or HBCSE: This is the nodal centre of the county for the Olympiads operation in India. The main aim is to promote excellence to pre-university students in the subjects of science and mathematics.

About Mathematical Olympiad

This Mathematical Olympiad Programme allows students to participate in the International Mathematical Programme or IMO which is handover by the HBCSE in the support of National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHS). NBHS is an initiate of Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) and Government of India. With the help of this programme, the Government wants to search mathematical talent across the country’s new generation students.

25 region are set to conduct this program and three main groups of regional coordinator are Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS).

Stages of Exam

Stage 1: In the first stage, there will be two and half hour exam having 30 questions which are conducted both in English and Hindi medium and this exam is known as Pre- Regional Mathematical Olympiad or RMO. The answers are in the form of single or two-digit form.

Stage 2: In this stage, the exam of Regional Mathematical Olympiad (RMO) will be conducted for three hours and there will be six problems to solve. This exam is also performed in regional languages also as per requirement presented by the regional coordinators.

Stage 3: In the third stage, approximately 900 students (not fixed) can qualified as best performing students for the next level of Olympiad which is – Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO).

Stage 4: At this stage, Approximately 35 students will be selected and invited for the 4th stage for the International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC). This camp is going to be conducted on the HBCSE from April to May. Here in this camp, there will be an orientation of the selected students by emphasizing on conceptual foundations and problem-solving skills.

During this camp, various selection tests will be organised to analyse the students. Thereafter, the six best performing students are going to be selected for IMO to represent INDIA.

Stage 5: There will be a tough training programme for the selected students having a duration of 8 to 10 days at the HBCSE before performing at IMO.

Stage 6: This is the final stage where a student participates at the IMO and they will be accompanied by the four mentors or teachers.

JEE Advanced 2020 Notification: Get details of Exam Date, Application, Eligibility, Pattern and more

Details of JEE Advanced 2020 is announced by the National Testing Agency. IIT Delhi is going to conduct the JEE Advanced 2020 for the admission of eligible students in the top 23 IITs of India. Admission will take place in the category of Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s and Dual Degree programs.

This exam will be a computer-based test managed totally by the top 7 IITs per zone. As there are 7 major zones are divided under specific IITs namely IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee, IIT Guwahati and IIT Bombay. These zones are created under the support of JAB or Joint Admission Board.

Students across the nation will fight for the admission in these 23 IITs and there will be specific cut off for the eligibility for admission. The highest number of students who will get eligibility is approximately 250,000 this year.

Interesting news- This is the first time when JEE exam will also be conducted in the USA. The centre for the exam is established in San Francisco.

Exam Pattern

The pattern of JEE Advanced 2020 includes the attempt of two papers that happens consecutively one after other. It is important for the students to clear JEE Main 2020 cut off in order to qualify for eligibility of JEE Advanced paper. Marking scheme of this paper includes marks as full, partial or zero.

As already told, Application form of this exam can release in May first week. The application form can be filled by students who have qualified the cut off in the JEE Main and complete the details including payment. The expected date of the admit card can be May’s second week.

JEE Advanced 2020 Eligibility Criteria

The major eligibility criteria of the JEE advanced are as follows:

  1. Age limit: The age of the candidate/student must be on/after 1 October 1995. There will be an age relaxation of 5 years for the special category of students belongs to SC/ST/PWD.
  2. Qualifications: Candidate must have passed 10+2th standard with required percentage mark of 75% and above. For the special category of SC/ST/PwD, this mark is 65%.
  3. Number of attempts: Student can give this exam only twice in consecutive years. Also only those who have passed the JEE Main cut off for advanced.
  4. Other requirements: Student who have appeared in the IIT previously or reported the centre and did not accepted the seat or cancelled their admission after joining, such students are not eligible for the JEE Advanced.
