HOW TO OVERCOME LAZINESS DURING JEE PREPARATION ?

Laziness is a habit rather than a mental health issue. It may reflect a lack of self-esteem, a lack of positive recognition by others, a lack of discipline stemming from low self-confidence, or a lack of interest in the activity or belief in its efficacy.

It is easy to get wrapped up in the daily grind and avoid the tasks that require students immediate attention. Are you also one of them who often feel lazy? Have you ever experienced laziness holding you back from accomplishing your goals? We would all be lying if we said we have never spent our day doing nothing. Sometimes, all students  enjoy the state of laziness and whiling away our time and wait until the last minute to study for a test or work on a project. It is to be noted that laziness is a real grade killer and students should learn to encounter the same.

Read further and find out ways to overcome laziness :

What you need is focused mind

It is easy to feel distracted or not feel motivated enough to do the task. Often when we have to start with something, we feel lazy. In order to overcome that feeling of laziness, it is important to focus your mind on the task. If you have a problem focusing or concentrating, you can practice meditation etc which will help your mind stay active and focused.

 Switch between tasks

Another way to combat laziness is by switching between the tasks. Let’s say, you start with Physics and practice a few numerical questions. However, after a point of time, you don’t feel like solving more questions. It might be due to boredom or perhaps you are unable to solve them correctly. In such a situation, it is easy to feel less motivated. As a result, laziness sinks in. To avoid that, switch Physics with Chemistry. Switching between subjects or tasks keeps the mind active and helps in better retention.

Take a power break

A nap or a coffee break can prove to be your power break whenever you feel lazy. Taking a small break not only rejuvenates you but also energizes your mind to study with stronger conviction. This will also relax you and keep stress at bay. A power break is one of the most effective ways to encounter laziness and improve concentration.

Remove all obstacles

In the techno-savvy world we live in, it is easy for a human mind to get distracted. With PSP games, smart phones and Netflix so handy, students attention tends to get diverted from his/her goal. As a result, studying takes a back seat as they feel lazy to learn in contrast to their active state while playing. It is thus advisable to switch off the phones, put all games to a corner and unplug unnecessary tech devices for a while.

Surround yourself with motivated people

It cannot be denied that when you spend time with people who are motivated and serious about their goals in life, you also tend to think like them. It influences you and your life and you are able to focus more. On the contrary, hanging out with lazy people changes your way of thinking and you adapt to their way of life, thereby turning into lethargic fellows.

6. Adopt engaging techniques

It is important to immerse yourself completely in the task to be able to accomplish it successfully. Engaging techniques such as visual learning, using mind maps, listening to recorded lectures or watching youtube videos on your lesson can work in your favor. All this not only keeps your mind engaged but also helps in improved learning and better retention.

Strictly follow a schedule

Stop feeling crippled because of the feeling of laziness. One of the effective ways to combat laziness is to make a schedule and adhere to it. This will not only help you strike a balance between leisure and work but will also accomplish tasks on time and keep procrastination at bay. This will considerably remove the feeling of laziness as you’ll know you have to meet your targets.

Shake it up

Exercise is a must for a healthy body and mind. Always, always, indulge in some exercise to keep off that feeling of laziness. Exercise pumps up your muscles and refreshes your mind, leaving it active for hours. An active mind absorbs better and retains the information for long. So shake it up a little and start working out.

TEACHER AND TOPPERS TIPS ON HOW TO SCORE 90 PERCENT AND ABOVE : CBSE BOARD EXAMS 2019

CBSE is a highly competitive board with a large number of students scoring high percentages. Toppers and teachers share tips on how to score 90 percent and above in CBSE Board Examinations 2019.

Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE would commence the board examinations for classes 10 and 12 from February 2019 this year. As the schools wrap up the syllabus and get ready for the board examinations , students are settling down for their revisions. With increased competition to get into the premier universities and CBSE top percentages touching 99%, the biggest worry for students is to crack the 90 percent ceiling.

Toppers and teachers share tips for scoring above 90 percent in CBSE Board Examinations 2019:

NCERT is crucial: Teachers have emphasized repeatedly on the importance of covering the NCERT in its entirety. Toppers over the years have also vouched on how they have focused on NCERT books. Over the years, the question papers have been strictly based on the NCERT books and would continue to do so. Students can refer to the reference books but should ensure that they are thorough with all the topics covered in the NCERT books.

Solve CBSE Sample Papers: CBSE Sample papers are released by the board for all subjects for classes 10 and 12 on the official website cbseacademic.nic.in. Teachers suggest that the CBSE Sample papers are usually a good way to start. They also ask the students to go through the marking schemes released by the board to understand how their answers would be marked.

Time Management: Toppers are usually able to finish their papers well in advance of the given time limit of 3 hours, with about 10 minutes left for revision. The secret to that, toppers reveal is time management. All students have their own speeds and are comfortable in solving the question papers as per their convenience. This is what needs to be determined before the examination. Practising sample papers is a good way of understanding and tweaking your speeds and improving time management for the examination.

Use points for answers: Examiners have shared how answers given in points are much more easier to mark and chances of teachers leaving out the crucial extra mark are less. Also, toppers say that covering the answer points makes sure that they don’t leave out on anything crucial and are easier to revise also.

Revision is KEY: Revise and revise again, is what teachers often tell students and that is the motto. Schools have either already completed the entire syllabus or would do so in a few weeks. As such, students have about 2 months of time for revision. Toppers usually revise the entire syllabus about 3 times before the boards actually begin. Every student has his or her own speed but revision is the key. As many times as you can, say teachers.

CBSE BOARD EXAM 2019 : 10th AND 12th DATE SHEET RELEASED

CBSE has announced the exam dates for the annual board exams. Class 12 board exam will begin on February 15 and Class 10 board exam will begin on February 21.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the date sheet for class 10, 12 board exams. Class 12 board exams will be held from February 15 to April 3 and Class 10 board exams from February 21 to March 29. Following a Delhi High Court order, the Board will conduct the exams for vocational subjects first. Exams for core academic subjects will begin in March. Results will be declared by the first week of June, said Controller of Examinations.

The Board has made it clear that the exam dates have been fixed in a way that it doesn’t coincide with the dates of competitive exams. To give students sufficient time between consecutive papers, CBSE has released the board exam time table seven weeks before the exam date.

CBSE Exam Date Sheet 2019 – important Changes
  1. To begin with, CBSE has released the date sheet sooner than ever before. The last time CBSE had released the date sheet in December was about 4 years ago. Experts had earlier hinted that the date sheet would be released earlier since most of the activities were preponed.
  2. The board examinations, as had been intimated by CBSE, would commence from February instead of the usual date in March. The February examinations, however, are for vocational subjects. Core subjects like Mathematics, Accountancy, Biology, English, Hindi, etc. would be conducted in the month of March.
  3. This year, CBSE has packed the examinations based on the combinations, such that the examinations are continuously held one after another. While all the students would get adequate time to revise each subject, the examiners may not get a day from February 15 till April 3.

JEE MAIN 2019: HOW TO SCORE ABOVE 250 ; PREPARATION TIPS

JEE Main 2019: What is a high score in JEE Main? According to last year’s ranks, if you have a score above 250, your rank should fall between 1000-1500 .

JEE Main 2019: JEE Main is less than a month away for most of you who have opted to take the January exam. If you get a high score in this exam, you don’t need to worry about taking it again in April. You can simply concentrate on your board exams.

But, what is a high score in JEE Main? According to last year’s ranks, if you have a score above 250, your rank should fall between 1000-1500. Not only does this easily qualify you for JEE Advanced, but also boosts your confidence. Moreover, even if you don’t perform well in JEE Advanced, you will still get a good seat in an NIT or any other top engineering college that accepts JEE Main scores.

If you want to get a high score in JEE Main, here are a few tips that you should follow:

1. Practice as much as you can :

By now, most of you would have completed your JEE exam syllabus. Instead of revising it over and over again, focus on practicing these concepts. JEE is much more complex than any exam that you have ever attempted. This is why, there is a huge difference between understanding a concept and solving problems based on it accurately, in the stipulated amount of time. This is where mock tests come in. You can simulate an exam and figure out strategies to help you answer the paper faster. From deciding which subjects should you attempt first, to understanding the maximum amount of time you should spend solving a question, mock tests are your new best friends.

2. Learn from your mistakes :

Don’t just limit your preparation to blindly taking mock test after mock test. You will only see a slight increase in your score over time. Once you complete your three-hour long paper, analyse every question where you lost marks. Find out what could have prevented you from going wrong. Did you misunderstand an entire concept or misuse a formula? Or did you simply not read the question carefully enough? Make a note of your mistakes and work towards improving your weak areas. If you have any doubts when it comes to concepts, or if you cannot understand why you were wrong, resolve these queries immediately. Chances are, your professor does not have time to listen to all of your queries. This is where an e-Learning app comes in. Some apps let you ask your doubts via a chat app. You can simply click a picture of your doubt and upload it into the app. Rest assured, your doubt will be resolved instantly by an industry expert, no matter what the time of the day or night it is.

3. Revise smartly :

At this stage, you don’t have time to go over your entire syllabus again. Even if you do, you can only revise it once before your exam, and that revision time will eat into the amount of time you need for your mock tests. This is why you should develop a faster way to revise. If you have been making short notes or flashcards, they will come in handy now. Divide your syllabus according to the number of days left, and only go through these short notes. During mock tests, if you have made a mistake because you didn’t apply a concept accurately, go back to your books and study it thoroughly. Slowly and surely, your overall understanding of the syllabus will improve without you spending a lot of time on it.

4. Practice the exam in a computer-based format ( CBT ) :

All your life, you have been taking exams in the offline, pen and paper mode. Before you walk into the exam hall, ensure that you know the rules of the CBT format well. The government has set up practice centres all across the country. If possible, visit the centre and take a mock test. For more practice, download an e-Learning app like Topper and attempt the mock tests online. This may not have the exact interface of your exam, but it will get you comfortable with taking the test online.

5. Take a break :

You should always spend some time relaxing and doing something you enjoy. This will help you calm your nervousness and help your brain get some rest. Exercising or playing a sport is a great way to relax, since exercising releases endorphins that help you manage stress. If you don’t want to exercise, you can try developing a hobby – be it dancing, singing, painting, or photography. Apart from taking breaks during the day, ensure that you get enough sleep. This helps your body relax and perform better the next day. It’s best if you maintain a scheduled cycle. This will help your body clock get used to sleeping at certain hours, and taking an exam at others.

STUDY TO GET MAXIMUM SCORE IN JEE SUBJECTS : BY AG SIR

How do I score above 90 marks in physics in Jee mains?

Physics is one of those subjects which is all about the concepts. Understanding the fundamentals and keeping your concepts clear is one of the most vital parts of solving questions in physics.

How should I prepare for JEE mains maths?

Mathematics is one of the most important subjects in clearing JEE Main. For certain individuals, Mathematics can be a subject they enjoy or a subject that they hate. Plus, having a good grip on this subject helps in physics and chemistry too.

When we compare the questions asked in JEE Main versus the questions asked in JEE advanced, we can see the questions asked in Jee Main is quite easy and maybe just a tad bit difficult than the CBSE papers. But even so, they’re challenging.

This is one of the subjects that requires speed and precision because more often than not, the paper is quite lengthy and most of the questions are based on high order thinking skills, so most of them will require you to use more than one concept in order to solve them.

Mathematics is a section that requires a lot of practice, not for a day but constantly and regularly in order to score well in your paper.

To give a brief overview of certain important topics in Mathematics:

Probability and Statistics– One of those topics which most students tend to leave but these are like one of the most scoring topics, it’s tough but with practice, you can score well.

Differential and Integral Calculus– the Most scoring subject of the paper, you have to remember a lot of formulas but once you have a good grip on that, solving questions isn’t that difficult.

Coordinate Geometry, Vector and 3D Geometry– Questions from this topic are generally straightforward so you can solve them easily by reading the questions properly.

Complex Numbers and Trigonometric Ratios and Algebra– Most of the students hate this part and aren’t very good at it. But in most papers have a good amount of questions from these topics.

The best way to prepare is to first start by completing your NCERT And any material you have from your you coaching institute. Plus ask your teachers which book would they recommend to you. After this you should head to previous year question papers or any question bank you can find, that has good questions. The main key is just constant efforts and practicing regularly.

How do I score around 80-90/120 in the JEE Main (chemistry)?

Chemistry is one of the most scoring subjects in the JEE MAIN paper. For most people score goes up because of this subject.

Scoring high in this subject (80 & above) isn’t a walk in the park, but when you’re putting in constant efforts for a long time, it’s not that difficult either.

There are 25 chapters (or topics) in the prescribed syllabus for chemistry JEE MAIN, combining 11th and 12th standard syllabus. And that is the reason why it’s difficult. The course is really vast and without constant and disciplined revision and practice, scoring well is just not possible.

The entire syllabus is divided into three parts

  • Inorganic chemistry
  • Organic chemistry
  • Physical chemistry

You just need to make sure your fundamentals are rock solid in almost all the topics and understanding and solving questions will be easy.

To give a brief overview of certain important topics in chemistry:

Chemical Bonding & the periodic table– To be honest these are the most important topics in Chemistry. Mastering Chemical Bonding and the properties of periodic table elements, then solving questions in a lot of topics will be a breeze.

General organic chemistry– Basic principles, hydrocarbons, carbonyl compounds being the most important.

Redox reactions, Mole Concept & the concept of equivalents – Again very basic and but really important.

Solid state, solutions & gases theory– Sometimes theoretical questions come from this part, solving these wouldn’t take any time if you’re clear with the concepts.

Thermochemistry & thermodynamics– Mostly numerical, but have a good weightage in the paper.

P, D & F block– Again, mostly theoretical questions from these chapters.

Having a good hold on these topics doesn’t guarantee you really good marks but these are one of the most important topics in the entire syllabus. Certainly, you need to study different topics too. Plus make a habit of making notes of anything you feel is important. Can be a formula, question, concept, anything.
